Another adjustment, another new evil!

So today my ortho covered 3 out of 4 of my back molars with weird metal brackety things. Question- what are they? What will they do? I know I should have asked the ortho but I get quite uptight when I'm in the hotchair!!!

Sounds like molar bands. They function same as brackets but they wrap around the whole tooth rather then just stick on the side.
