Rubber bands not correcting bite - anyone else?

I have been braced for six months and eight weeks ago got rubber bands to correct an overbite. At my last visit a few weeks ago my ortho seemed concerned that the bands were not working. She gave me stronger bands to wear and questioned me about whether I was in fact wearing them as prescribed (I am: all day, every day!). She said sometimes in adults the bands do not work to correct bite problems. I'm hoping I am not one of those cases.

Has anyone else had this experience? Does anyone know if there is alternative treatment if it doesn't work? I'd hate to go through two years of braces and still have a bad bite.

I am sorry to hear your rubber bands are not working properly! There are a lot of tricks orthos use to correct an overbite besides rubber band, forsus and bite plane come to mind right away. There is also a headger. I am sure there are details on which one is used when, but I am sure something can be done to correct your bite. Good luck and keep us posted!

I am wearing rubber bands 24/7, both sides. It is a very slow process for me, so slow it has added a few extra months to the process.
I don't know of anything that will speed it up.
