So I have always noticed my lower jaw is weird. My midline is off by a tooth. It looks so weird. And then the top jaw is off a little bit too. Anyone have this corrected or know how my ortho will go about fixing it? My next appt is not until feb 6th and I will be sure to ask then. This is one of the biggest things I hate about my smile. I do not have a very crooked smile but its all bite issues with me.

A Diagonal Elastic across the front from top left to bottom right. That usually does the trick. I have yet to figure out if all orthos do it a vast majority do I will elt you know my ortho is going to fix mine.

The whole diagonal elastic does not sound very pleasant to be honest. I would probably rather deal with my midlines than with the elastic. I am mom of 4 who owns a business, walking around with an elastic in front of my teeth is no possible. So maybe he will not be able to fix mine.

If it just the teeth out of alignment, I've seen them moved with just retainers and springs. If it is the entire jaw, if you are in crossbite, you're looking at elastics?

I'm just 5 1/2 weeks into top and bottom braces, with midline issues as well. My top midline is 5 mm off in one direction and the bottom is 2 in the opposite direction. I too am anxious to see how my ortho corrects these issues. I had two upper and two lower teeth pulled 2 weeks ago, so I'm guessing those gaps will play into the midline move.

yup elastics it is I kow that sounds kinda harsh to have to wear an elastic smack dab in the front of your face. like the other person said if its dental braces can do it but jaw wise you're looking at elastics.

I think they can also fix it by for example wearing an elastic from top molar to bottom canine on one side and an elastic from bottom molar to top canine on the other side. I've seen animations of this on YouTube.

I have HUGE midline issues; my top is ~4-5mm to the left, while my bottom is ~2-3mm to the right. They neither match the facial midline, nor each other. My ortho said that is because I have class II on one side and class I on the other. He also said that a simple class II elastics should take care of it. My teeth are nor ready just yet, but I cannot wait to start the elastics.

my top midline is off too- i am missing a top bicuspid but didnt want to have extractions. so i've been wearing elastics from lower molar to upper canine on both sides since day 1, on for 24/7. so far i have not seen my midline move at all. not sure when it will happen but here's hoping it does soon... :-88
