braces don't close spacing due to bone/gum loss question

#1 Post by quiggle »

hi everyone, before I had braces I had pretty severe gum recession that resulted in some loss of bone that created spacing between my teeth. my orthodontist says my treatment is almost completed but that the spaces can't be closed further since the gum and bone levels have already been worn away. have any of you been in this similar scenario, is it recommended I should try to have these spaces filled cosmetically or should it just be left as is? thank you!

On my bottom left, I am missing the tooth before the wisdom tooth. Unfortunately there is bone loss so the wisdom tooth can't be moved into its place. I believe we are going to do a bridge (I will not pay for an implant) but in your case, I assume there are small spaces, is that correct?

Did you ask your general dentist if those spaces can be filled? If so and they said yes, I say go for it!

I'd ask if they could do a bone graft and then move the wisdom teeth into that space using appliances (e.g TADs)
