tongue area getting stuck on retainer

Hi all, I've been wearing my retainers for two months but noticed this week that the area below my tongue has started sticking to the acrylic edge of the retainer when I go to sleep. I notice the area swells a bit when I wake up but seems to go back down later, has this happened to anyone else and what can be done to address this problem? Thank you!
