Did my band move or is it just irritated.

So I got my braces on two days ago and this morning I noticed my upper right band was really poking my gum and it stings to touch that gum. I thought it was because my band had moved up into my gum. My mom took a look at it and she thinks the gum is just irritated. So I will continue brushing this area and hope it will go away. Has this ever happened to someone? Was it not just irritation?

look in the mirror and loook at the surfaceof your tooth. You know if you can see any part of the side of your tooth if it slipped into your gums. If not then it is just irritated. In which case I HIGLY reccomend mouth rinsing with Peroxyl to kill the germs and make the swelling/redness/puffyness go down while killing any germs that could make it worse.

I just had this same question for my ortho and he called me into his office Wednesday (6/27/12) to check. Molar bands hadn't slipped but wire was moving and it irritated gum. Go figure. He said all is going well but my wires are so twisted because of movement and last lower back right molar is being pulled up which also caused irritation at gum line so he gave me several packets of peroxyl which really works :jump: no more :soremouth: and he gave me softer bristled toothbrushes  but the movement is wow!
