How do I ask my orthodontist if...

#1 Post by BracedSurgeryStudent »

I can record a video of my adjustment. I have a vlog thing/singing/college/bracesupdates kind of youtube channel. I want to put up a video because people have been asking me of my orthodontic adjustment. How should I go about asking my orthodontist?

Why don't you do what everyone else does. They seem to take a friend along and record it on their phone i suppose as long as you dont record faces of people there shouldn't be any issues of identificaion. If still in doubt record music over the recording once you have taped it then upload it. I'm just guessing that's how people do it. Given the 100's of videos uploaded im not sure it seems to poses a problem among the community in the dental world. But i guess telling her what you are going to do would be a graturity.

I am sure if you handed the nurse the camera and did your recording you could edit it later when you got home and store it to share at a later date

I think the biggest issue was already stated above. Make sure there are no other identifiable people in the video unless they have consented to it. This is particularly important in open-concept offices where other patients would not want to be put on video.

It may be a good idea to call in and ask ahead of time so that the staff are prepared when you arrive, rather than sitting there in the chair waiting for the orthodontist/office manager to need to come and speak to you before you can go ahead.

Thanks everyone. I totally agree with not showing their faces, I was just going to record what they do and stuff, since people were asking how I got the colours on the Damon Braces, etc. I was jsut going to show them doing their thing iin my mouth (if that doesn't sound weird).

Normally have to pay for that kind of footage
Brace Date: 14th April 2011
Estimated Debrace Date: 14th April 2013
Real Debrace Date 18th June 2013

4 extractions, upper ceramic brackets and lower metal to fix overjet and overcrowding.
