Hi, just wondering, how has your experience been with white archwires? Do they chip, or just the white stay on?

Hi i have white wires, the first few my ortho put on did chip after a couple of months each, but then he changed them to a stronger white wire and they seem to last longer without chipping, ive had my current white wire on without replacement for 7 months and its only just starting to chip, i think as long as they are changed regularly you should be ok, i think if anything its the elastics you should be worried about as they stain really easily and always need replacing at every visit.

I have a tooth coloured archwire and it has been great so far. I know it is a new type which is meant to be chip resistant

My ortho didn't want to use white ones. She said she had better results/experience with the metal one. I do wonder if there is way to possibly change into a white one later on. Will see.

I have had white archwires for 4 weeks now and only noticed 1 chip so far. Otherwise it has stayed white so far...

I had a white archwire for 8 weeks and did not experience any chipping at all. I am currently on my second white one (2 weeks in) no chipping.

i have only had white wires so far in my treatment and they always chip. my adjustments are usually 4 - 6 weeks apart and i would say by about 2 weeks after the adjustment at least half of the white coating is gone and by the time the adjustment comes round it is all gone.
