Holding arch

#1 Post by mrsbrandong »

Hello all, I have had Invu ceramic braces for a week now and I have to get a lower holding arch next week on the bottom. For those with a holding arch is it hard to get use to the arch? Did it affect your speech any? Thanks in advance!

Hey there,

I got my upper ceramics on in june, and about 10 days later had a lower holding arch placed. I have had very little trouble adjusting to the arch, and it has not affected my speech. It's held in place with bands on either side, and those chewed up my cheeks (much more than the upper bands or brackets did), but other than that, no issues. I was apprehensive about the arch at first, because I thought it would be more annoying, but it's really been no big deal.

Upper Ceramics on 6/19/12
Lower Ceramics on 3/25/13
Braces off on 9/23/14

Original estimate of 16 months treatment time - ended up at 27 months.
