Exactly 2 1/2 years from day 1 and 4 days before my birthday!!!! YAY!!!! D Day - 8-16-12

I arrived on time with much anticipation! The ortho came to look and saw a small gap on the bottom . He said that he could take the top off, but the bottom would have to wait. He took the top off and it was a little painful...it was like taking a bandaid off - do it fast! He reshaped some in front and then polished them. They look beautiful!!! I was fitted for my retainer and I go back this afternoon to get it. I'm hoping the next visit won't be too much longer. They did put new power chains to help close the gap and I've already noticed a difference even after a few hours...I'll ask when I go to get my retainer, when I can make the next appointment to get them off. As far as the TADs, he said he wants to keep them in for another 6 months and then oral surgeon will remove them. All in all, I'm pleased to have the top off at least. I am able to enjoy my beautiful new smile!

After 11 months in braces, they finally came off today! I still can not believe that my teeth look straight, my TMJ issues are gone, and i feel great. For anyone who is contemplating getting braced, i suggest that you do it, as the results can be amazing. I was 48 years old when I was braced. it's tough being in braces in your 40's , but i can honestly say it was worth it. i know there are many people who are reading this and thinking that they could not undergo orthodontics later in life. I too felt that way, and with much support, I made it through and have no regrets. I encourage others to consider orthodontics for TMJ related issues. I was fortunate to work with an amazing doctor. Just consider getting braced and all the benefits that come with it.

Today I found out I'll be getting my bottom braces off on 9/11!! Can't wait!!

Do you have a clear retainer? How are you finding it?

Clear retainer on top. Don't know what I'll get for the bottom. So far it is working out well. I'm glad to have the clear one. It's just needing to always know where my case is and making sure I take it out before I eat. It's all about developing new routines.
