Bite Blocks?

my orthodontist has applied two 'bite blocks' to my top back molars. They call it a 'bite block' but it's actually just a lump of glue or filling type substance.
It makes it impossible to eat, does anyone have any advice/experience on how to get around this?
Thanks in advance!xo

EWWWWW....I'm getting those tomorrow...not looking forward to them at all....from what I hear, you end up grinding them down, and it only takes about 2 weeks to get used to them. I have read all over on this site, and most people seem to think they aren't a big deal after a couple of weeks...we can only hope!!

I've had mine a week and hate them! I can't chew at all. Well, I can *sort of* eat very small pieces of very soft foods, but it is so awkward and uncomfortable that I don't eat much.

damnnnn, I've had them before, on my bottom teeth but it wasn't half as bad as this. One is also bigger than the other, and knocking against the bracket it's supposed to be 'protecting'.
So pointless!
They're also really cringey, like when it scrapes against my tooth it makes me freak out! Goodbye food :(
Good luck!!

wondering what is awaiting me in regard to bite blocks, turbos or whatever it is going to be in order to prevent my upper teeth hitting the brackets of the lower jaw. Getting my deep bite fixed.

I have had two different types of bite block, but it depends how big it needs to be, if that makes sense? The smaller ones aren't too bad, they wear down pretty quickly to a shape that is easier to eat with.
The only advice I can give you is to bite the bullet, pardon the pun, and eat normal foods even though it's uncomfortable. Because the sooner you eat, the sooner they'll wear down and be easier to work with!
I don't know about turbos, good luck!

I have mine on upper teeth. Since the beginning to this day my molars haven't touched. It was weird as hell at first but I think I got used to it pretty quick.
I honestly think that the spacers prior to braces were worse but then I don't have bite blocks on my molars now.

So, I just got my bite blocky thing (Blue glue on my bottom back teeth?)
And I was wondering if I can still drink alcohol with them?

I have the blue stuff on my back teeth as well. I had no idea what it even was. I cried the first two days and only ate yogurt. After finding this site and reading info on this site, I decided just to eat. It feels weird but it does the job. I have only had braces for about a week and I am rapidly getting used to eating this strange way.
People on this site were not lying when they say you get used to the molar buildup pretty fast.
Good luck!

Hi! I originally started out with one bite block on my upper molars, I cried for the first couple of days and it was extremely painful to eat anything and I couldn't figure out how to chew so i also just swallowed pieces but the best advice I can give you is to be pateint of course eat soft food items like ice cream and yogurt and also to keep trying to learn how to bite which for me I forced my self to chew and it hurt a lot but that's what worked for me if you just make yourself , the first couple of days I just thought I would never be able to eat again but after at least 2 weeks you should be able to eat most foods just be gentle. Now I got my expander put in and In total I have 6 bite blockers on my upper teeth which I'm still getting used to and. The pain and soreness sadly starts over again for me :/ I hope this helps!
