My ortho said I will probably benefit from this to close my open bite. I was told it is almost pain free and I should have no problems or complications. Anybody had this done? If so, how was your experience? Share with me so I can form a picture of what to expect. Thanks in advance.

I have watched very many videos on youtube and TADs was one of them. I saw a computer simulation. The video made me a little queasy as they showed the process of applying the device. And, well, let me just say I'm happy that I don't need them in my treatment. Knock on wood!

I hope it works out for you.

I have a TAD in the roof of my mouth with a U shaped wire bonded to it and to two teeth on the top.. they did this to keep the back teeth from moving after 2 extractions so that only my front teeth moved back. The placement of the TAD for me was NOT FUN.. but my ortho said it was because I had some seriously dense bone.. every time he turned the screw i felt it deep behind my nose (yuck) and it hurt. It was pretty sore afterwards and EVERYTHING I eat gets caught in the roof of my mouth. I think it is probably the most awful place to have a TAD though lol.. most people really don't have a huge issue with them but I was unlucky I suppose... but now it is fine and I am used to it, so don't worry.

I have had 2 TADs during my treatment, also for an open bite! The placement of them wasn't bad at all, I don't even notice that they are there, and I've had one removed and that wasn't painful either. I have pictures and more details in the link in my signature if you wanted to see. Good luck! :)

I have one on the right side of my upper arch. No pain when it was placed though the area was numb. It was pretty sore for a few days after that, but since then nothing. Ive had it in my mouth now for almost a year I think.
