Flossing tip.

#1 Post by Duncan5 »

Found it's much easier to thread the floss past the wire if I fold over the first couple of inches and twist it together. The double thickness is stiffer so easier to control and grab the errant end. Then I can unfold it and floss as normal.

No threaders in any of my local chemists, but this does help.

Good idea, thanks for sharing! I'll definitely use this if I can't find my threaders.

I'd been using flossers before braces so I looked for some that would work with braces and finally found them. Man, they make flossing so much faster than threading!

Good tip if you are not able to get your hands on any floss threaders :D

I LOVE my floss threaders, they have made threading floss so much easier. I couldn't be without them now and have stocked up on way too many . They are going to come in very handy when I need to floss the teeth attached to the bonded retainer
Braces: Metal fixed upper and lower
Estimated treatment time: 18-24 months
Braces Removed: August 2013 (after 33 months in braces)

You can buy Oral B Superfloss in the UK. It is sold on the Boots website but maybe some smaller Boots stores don't stock it :? http://www.boots.com/en/Oral-B-Superflo ... loss_1048/. Maybe try some local chemists. If not then you can buy it online from Amazon or other UK sites. When I bought my pack of Oral B Superfloss I couldn't get on with it, it was just too thick and wouldn't fit between my teeth, but some people seem to be ok with it so it's worth a try.

I just use regular floss and a floss threader to thread it under the wire.
I have not seen any floss threaders sold in shops here in the UK so I have to buy mine online, I get them from eBay as they normally work out cheaper. You can also buy them from from Amazon etc http://www.amazon.co.uk/DENTEK-FLOSS-TH ... B000TBZ0CI. I am not sure if I am allowed to post these links so they could get removed.

These are the exact floss threaders that I use:
