At my last appointment my orthodontist said I am in my last set of wires and I would be getting my braces off this fall, which presumably means he is done with any major movement and is only detailing a few little things. However the bottoms of my two front teeth on the top do not line up with the teeth next to them (they are a little bit longer and stick down a bit more, particularly on one side - right in the photo) and I was kind of hoping this would get fixed as part of my treatment. Any opinions on whether this looks right or whether my ortho is rushing debracing? It never really moved so maybe my ortho never meant to fix it?

I have a similar situation, where my bite was so off over the years that my teeth have worn unevenly. My dentist is going to sort them out for me once braces are off and whitening has been done. My ortho has made no mention of him being prepared to do it and to be honest, from previous work my dentist has done, I know she'll do a fantastic job so I'd rather go with what I know.
Thanks sibilla. I had heard that dentists can grind down the teeth so they line up but I am not sure what effect this might have on the long term health of the teeth. I have an appointment in 2 weeks so I will ask then.

They can either shave a bit off the teeth on the other side or add a bit to the teeth that are slightly shorter, to make them the same length - I'm going for adding a bit (but the difference in mine is slightly more obvious....).
Hard to tell from the photos but it appears your gum lines match up on either lateral incisor and that the issue is the shape of the left lateral. On the incisal edge closer to the midline, that tooth seems to be chipped. Due to the size of the chip, you may be better off having it restored that trimmed down, as trimming that one would require equilibrating the other anterior teeth also.
