Damon Clear Bracket popped off on the 2nd day

#1 Post by annievan »

My daughter finally got Damon clear yesterday. 10 on the upper & metals on the rest.
Today, the wire on the upper came out & poked her chick. I called the office but unfortunately they all came home, except the coordinator. She told me to come back tomorrow morning to fix the wire. We tried to put the wax to limit the sore...
Now, one of the clear brackets popped off & dangled on the wire !!!

That happens sometimes. I've had a couple of my metal brackets pop off. I found that it seems to happen more shortly after I got my brackets on. It just needs to be fastened back on. At least it is still dangling. The first bracket I lost I was using for elastics and it didn't have a wire yet. I'm figuring that was a very expensive swallow.

I've found that the wires will occastionally slide or become "pokey" as my teeth shifted and the wire became too long. I just used wax and went in for a long time. With the self-ligating braces, you may also be able to take some tweezers and slide the wire back into position. I've also used tweezers to put the wire back into place when it has popped out. When I had a period with an especially slippery wire, one of the assistants actually showed me how to move the wire myself. It isn't ideal, but it worked. Now, they put some stoppers on my wire that they clamp down to keep the wire from being able to slide around.

I recommend the Mack silicone ear pillow wax. It is soft and the wire doesn't bite through it as easily as the traditional wax. It is cheaper too.

I wish your daughter well during her adjustment to having the braces.

I had 2 brackets pop off during the first day, it's just a bonding issue. Your ortho will replace them and shouldn't count it against your allocated bracket repairs if she/she uses that system.

Hi, I got my braces on yesterday, clear bracers top and bottom. In the car on tr way home two popped off, really sucks when you have to get them put on again and it aggravates the pain :(
