Hi everyone
I had my braces fitted last week and my teeth are sore and aching. I cant chew very well. My husband and i were out and about today and i struggled to find anything on a menu i could eat. What do you guys (that have bite problems and/or sore tender teeth) choose when you eat out.
Thanks

You can always look for soups or soft stuff. I've found that I can do chicken and other things that I can cut into really really tiny bites. My front teeth hurt a lot in the beginning so anything I could keep from biting into with my front teeth, but I could chew with my back teeth worked well.
I avoided sandwiches, especially anything with artisan breads. I also avoid things with skins, like peppers and pickles because my teeth aren't touching well and I can't bite through them. Also, I find veggies to be easier to eat if they are cooked soft.

I normally choose fish, salmon, or chicken as my meat. For my sides I will get a soup, mashed potatoes, or vegetables in which I always tell them to cook extra soft as if its being cooked for a baby or small child. I try to avoid rice when I go out because it just usually gets stuck everywhere and requires more cleaning than I want to do in a public restroom!!!

I aim for the fish meals too. I find hot chips are soft enough to eat without causing too much discomfort but fish is the best. It's soft enough to chew without really chewing.
Have you tried chewing on sugar free gum? My ortho recommended it as it helps to settle the teeth faster.

I think i will try some fish. Mash sounds good as well. I ate some really soft veg last night with gravy which was nice. My teeth feel a lot better today but i think that is because i bit a bracket off last night and the power chain came off so ive had less pressure. Just at the orthodontist now to have it put back on.

Pasta dishes were easy for me.
I'm in Texas, so enchiladas with rice and beans always worked.

Sandwiches with thick bread are the hardest, I totally agree.
Soup, rice, pasta, fish all work well for me.
I have found that it gets easier over time. I'll get to a point where I can eat almost anything if I cut it into small pieces, and then I go in for an adjustment and I'm back to soft foods temporarily. It goes back and forth.

I'm veggi so foods like chicken and fish are out for me too! Mostly I stick with pasta or something soft like that. I did order a pizza after an adjustment (did I forget I had braces?) and had to suck the topping off. As long as you have no pride or table manners its fine! Ha ha!
