I get it too. Happened just a couple of days after I got mine on. I've had it happen before too and they had to put a patch along my gumline because I'd brushed too hard and it had receded. My dentist told me that while my teeth are moving around, they'll be even more sensitive than they usually are and they have been. I've been using the sensitive toothpaste but it only goes so well.
Probably worth a check up with your dentist if you're really concerned but it doesn't always mean a filling

My dentist has also told me that braced teeth can be more sensitive than normal to sweet food, or hot/cold foods. Receding gum lines or tiny cavities (specially between teeth) can also cause this. If you are worried, I think you should see your dentist.
Good luck and I hope it is nothing serious!

Worth getting checked, but may be nothing. I have very sensitive teeth and there's times that anything sweet sets me off. Not always, but there's times its very painful.

Don't worry! I felt rather silly after racing down to mine 3 days in only to find out that it was my braces. But as he said, better safe than sorry later on

Re: does 'sharp, nerve' pain always mean the need for fillin
hey guys, i went to my dentist, she said the problem is, theres a gap somewhere between my tooth and a previous filling, thats causing the pain. She put some sealant on it and said wait 2 weeks, she also said if it doesnt go away the pain she will pull out the fillings in my 1st molar and 2nd premolar and refill them if the nerve looks 'angry'

Oh I hope the patch fixes the problem for you! Good luck

For me, that pain meant a partial root canal/temp filling (removing it for the braces) the only other time was when I needed a pre molar extracted (couldn't afford the root canal) at my last few visits xrays showed I needed nine fillings, haven't had an ounce of pain from any of them!
