new addition!

#1 Post by drbucky »

I've been fully braced for 15 weeks and have just found out that I'm 7 weeks pregnant! Have only told my husband, one close friend and now all of you!!!

I set myself a (planned) childbearing limit of age 35 so now that I'm 34 we thought we'd go for it! We already have a beautiful 5 year old boy and a gorgeous 3 year old girl.

We're expecting my third child in October 2013 and hopefully I'll be getting my braces off 3-6 months after that (have a 15-18 month sentence!). Anyone have experience of pregnancy while wearing braces? Any issues? Have heard that pregnancy can speed up the process - hoping so!

Oh, kennyandrew85, I am in the UK and thought about that right away :? !! But I don't think the NHS would have put me forward for braces anyway as there were no major issues other than cosmetic and my self-consciousness about that.

Congratulations! My husband and I would like another baby.. The Ortho told me to get on with it now as I'm due to have surgery between January and July 2014, and they won't operate on me if I've a very young child, nor if I'm pregnant as you can't eat much.

Just think, in all the pictures with child 3, your teeth are going to be beautifully straight. You'll have to go and get one of those venture photo shoots done.

You must be in the home stretch at this point. I hope the pregnancy has been relatively uneventful. Best of luck, and congratulations!

Congratulations!

I have been pregnant while in braces - but only just, & I didn't know it at the time! I fell pregnant with my first before I got debanded, I didn't discover until after they were off so I can't give you any advice. Hope you don't have any morning sickness, I imagine braces would not be helpful!

All the best for a speedy finish to your treatment & a happy pregnancy :-)

Wow - it's been a looooong time since I was on this board. Apologies for not replying but it has been a bumpy half year or so.
Unfortunately, I lost my little girl at 20 weeks in June. No signs of anything being off but found out that there was no longer a heartbeat or development at our routine scan. It's been a pretty horrendous experience but finally getting back to normal though I think of her everyday.
i'm sure that our loss was nothing to do with the braces but i will be extremely thankful to have these off - which will be in just under a month.
