I have 8 spacers in...this is the third day or so...
I have been taking motrin around the clock, currently waiting on my motrin pm to kick in. While I am excited about the prospect of a new smile, I am apprehensive and scared of the prospect of MORE pain once I get braced next Thursday. I was reading some past thread and several people stated said that they thought the pain from the spacers was worse than the pain from being braced and adjustments. How do you guys feel?
Spacers are definitely more painful than braces! Promise! Once those suckers come out you will have some instant pain relief! Then the pain from braces will gradually dissipate after a couple weeks. I couldn't eat at all with spacers! They are awful! Hope you feel better soon! the pain is totally worth how beautiful our teeth will be when we are finished!
I've had my spacers (only 2) for a while now and I've only experienced pain when chewing on that side. If I don't chew on that side then all I really feel are some odd sensations at times, but even those feelings are almost unnoticeable.
Do you guys feel pain even when not chewing?
I remember some pain when they were being inserted, however that was only with one of the spacers.
So far, I'm thinking the same thing. I only have spacers on the tops because I get braces on them first and they are bugging the heck out of me! They hurt, make it hard to eat, and bug, bug, bug. Eyes on the prize though, and it will be so worth it. But yes, I'm feeling your pain (in a matter of speaking).
Spacers are worse than braces.
when I had my spacers in on my bottom set first time round i had to have the metal ones and they hurt so much. When i had my top spacers in,( i had the rubber ones this time) i didn't feel them.
I have to have the bands on my second molars now so ive got 8 metal spacers in and quite frankly im in agony.
On the plus side, braces don't hurt as much as this.
I had 8 spacers too. I found that they were way more painful than the braces have been. The only real pain I've been experiencing with braces is from the odd canker sore, but a little wax takes care of that.

Okay, spacers in for one day. Ready for the braces.
I am stubborn and don't like giving in to the pain and soreness. So sitting at work eating my MnMs, and peanuts. (and things I cant in a week). So eat a few, stop, and then its like.
"Holy EFFF that hurts."..
It's about 80% to where I need to stop eating on them though.
Will be interesting how my kids are doing tonight.
