There is a ton of input from people in the Dental DoDads forum. But, the consensus seems to be a waterpik ultra. Forget the floss everyone likes, but it's not oral b superfloss. I personally like walgreens generic threader floss. hope that helps!

I just got my braces on Monday. Use the threaders and generic satin floss, this kind does not shred. I also wanted to suggest "go-betweens" They are awesome for brushing around each bracket and under the wire. I have them in 2 sizes, tight, and wide.

Waterpik ultra (Costco has one that also includes a travel Waterpik!) and right now I actually like Oral b Superfloss, though I could see that changing once my teeth are closer togther.

Personally, I wouldn't rush out to get a waterpik right away. I'm 6 weeks in and so far I've had no trouble at all. Flossing and brushing takes a bit longer (10-15 minutes instead of the 3-4 before braces) but I haven't needed a waterpik at all. Best to just play it by ear for a bit first :)

Great thank you everyone for your input. :):).

I will need a water pin bc my teeth are really close together and so it's hard to get the threader in between my teeth. Especially my lower teeth

3 more days until I'm actually braced.

Thank you again everyone!!!!

I bought my waterpik the day I got braced.... I use it multiple times a day but will tell you this - on days when my teeth/gums are sore, I use the waterpik on my gums to help and sooth them like a massage. It does help -

I can't believe it took me over two years to try satin tape floss. I wouldn't be without it now. It's so much easier to use than my regular floss. It goes between the teeth nice and easy.

What is a good threaded to use for tight spaces?

I absolutely love the Waterpik and cannot image my oral hygiene regime - with braces - without a Waterpik. If you're in the US, they're under $50 (I paid $44) on Amazon.com with free shipping.

My teeth are severely overcrowded, and I use the generic CVS threader floss. Not the best option, but passable. I'm bummed that threader floss costs so much :? I don't really like using the floss threaders (the plastic loopy thing), but hopefully that's a more affordable alternative that could work for others!

The threaders are expensive. I mentioned to my ortho and he gives them to me when I request them.
