How stable is IPR?

I'm getting IPR for an edge to edge bite. I'm getting my teeth moved back 2 mm. Am I bound to relapse or is IPR stable?

Hi!

You mean the slight stripping between the teeth to make room to move them? That small amount of enamel taken away will not grow back so the IPR is stable, but if you mean will your tooth position remain stable after the braces, this depends on you wearing your retainers as advised, the end position of the teeth (if they are in a neutral position with upright roots they will be less prone to relapse), and no other forces acting on the teeth like a tongue thrust.

Hope this helps!

IPR is stable (since it involves using a dremel-like thing to grind the edges of your teeth into dust), and I imagine the movements it induces would also be pretty stable, since "pressure" is being relieved on your arch.
