Has anyone had jaw surgery without braces?

#1 Post by Nichole »

Hello,
I hope I put this in the right section!

I'm 25 years old and am very unhappy with my flat face. A doctor in Belgium suggested performing a Fort I advancement + BSSO advancement. I told him I had braces from the ages of 13 to 16 and he said he could perform it without braces. I really liked the simulation pictures he sent me. My face had more projection and it would be permanent unlike fillers. This also seems like it might cause problems though? Has anyone had this done or know someone who has?

Thanks in advance!

I met a lady last year who did orthognathic surgery without braces. I thought her bite was ok, she wasn't totally happy. (But what woman is totally happy with her looks anyway, right? :))
She never had ortho in her life, you have had it so your bite should be good now. If it is a skeletal concern you want to change
then it sure would be possible to do without braces.
