Dry mouth...is this normal??

#1 Post by djss16 »

Ok so one week ago today I got my braces. I was in pain at first but I think the worst has passed. My cheeks are still getting used to the brackets/wires/hardware. My best friend right now is wax. My biggest problem right now is my super dry mouth!! No matter how much water I drink or swish around my mouth my brackets keep sticking to my lips and cheeks when I try to talk. Is there a way to help solve this?? This is really embarrasing when I am trying to talk to someone. I don't think it was this bad the first few days. It has gotten worse. Please tell me that eventually this goes away. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'm not sure why, but this does seem to get better fairly quickly. It did for me anyway.

I had this problem for about a week! first week with braces was fine, then it started happening, drove me nuts! I STILL get dry mouth when I drink alcohol and it is very frustrating. It does go away and will be gone maybe in about a week. Hopefully sooner for you :) but as I said, I still get dry mouth occasionally, i think it depends what I have eaten or what I have had to drink. You can get mouthwash for dry mouths, but i ended up just leaving it and it got better by itself.

It does go away. I had a super dry mouth for the first 24 hours, it went away and then came back. By about day 10, I was fine.
