Hi all,
i had a tooth extracted a month ago and the adjacent canine was bracketed to move to take its place, but so far i cannot see any change at all.
I even use flossing to check if there is more space between teeth, but no sign of it. Is it normal? Should I have already seen some change or not?
Is it possible that my teeth are not going to move?

Is there a way to know if something is going to happen?

There seems to great variation in individual rates of movement. Some people see movement within a few days, others take a few months. It has only been a month so I wouldn't be too worried yet. If you still see no movement in a few months then if I were you, I'd ask some questions.

Is it possible the ortho is doing something else to the tooth first?

I didn't see any movement for nearly two months at the beginning of my treatment. I was so frustrated, I was ready to quit.

Then things started happening, in fairly rapid succession. I started seeing changes weekly.

Give it time. You may have very healthy bones that don't want to break down so the teeth can move.

I am the same way....I am 6 weeks in and am not seeing many changes. It is very frustrating :(

I had read somewhere, perhaps in the resources section of this board, that 1 mm per month is to be expected. However I suspect there is wide variation. Some months I didn't perceive any movement but lately (braced in Sept 2012) it seems like a stampede. I'm lovin' it.

I checked with the ortho: he says everything is fine. The gap will be closed by Christmas.
I am looking forward to see it.

I'm 11 weeks into treatment and 5 weeks post front lower tooth extraction and I am seeing huge changes. Keep in mind that my lower arch was so crowded and one of my canines was sticking way out there as a snaggletooth due to the crowding. My ortho rigged up something like a powerchain but not an actual powerchain to close the gap in the front a little quicker. I saw movement the first week after the extraction before she did that and then it stalled. After I went in for my adjustment last week and she specifically worked on closing the gap by doing that, I saw another big change in the front in just a couple days. She mentioned that it will probably be another two months before it's totally closed up. And, of course, every case is really different. Because the crowding was so bad, my gap wasn't a whole tooth worth and I had really nice gum healing so she felt she could be a little bit more agressive in closing the gap. Your circumstances could be different. Because I'm a female who has to speak in public for work and I had a tooth extracted smack in the front, she was motivated to help close the gap a little more quickly than probably is customary.

I cannot wait ... I need to see something. I am looking forward to see a little gap between the canine and the second incisor.

I was wondering: will the ortho move my teeth one at time? First the canine back, then the second incisor back and finally the incisor? Is this the procedure?
I think it should be more efficient to start moving the teeth all together. It is not possble?

In my case, canines were moved to fill the extraction gaps, and then I had power chains on my six front teeth all together so that they could move together.

I don't remember. I had four (and three wisdom teeth) extractions. They were closed at different speeds.
