Do your lips look different when your braces come off?

I have heard that when your braces come off your lips will look either thinner or fuller than you are used to. Is this true? Has anyone noticed a change in their lips from having braces on their teeth?

My lips are what I would consider full and they didn't change at all. My braces came off last month and they are still pretty!

Yes!!!

When I had braces, I had the widest fullest lips. People would make nasty comments saying how my mouth is too wide to be forgotten and stuff like that. I have full lips naturally but with the braces on, they became super big. I hated my lips when I had the braces. As soon as they came off, my lips are back to normal and I couldn't be happier! You can tell a MAJOR difference. Even in pictures so it's not just me. Now I love my lips and have a beautiful smile!

My concern is that all the stretching from braces, the long time spent cleaning, etc, will thin out my lips. I have a smallish mouth.

Is that realistic or am I worrying about nothing?

While having braces, it may appear to bump out your upper lip.

During the treatment, the ortho may be flaring your teeth in or out depending on your situation and post braces, your lip may look differently.

He said he was flaring my teeth outward because they were previously leaning in. He said my lip would look fuller. But I'm getting the braces off this month and I don't really see a difference. I think with the metal removed it might look even thinner.
