So, I'm looking for a fluoride-free and SLS-free toothpaste. Any recommendations?

Is it because your mouth peels?

No, I'm simply not a fan of fluoride or SLS and I try to avoid them as much as possible.

I know Tom's of Maine makes one called Botanically Bright. I haven't tried it, but I have tried their fluoride-free and liked the way it worked and tasted!

My dentist practices holistic dentistry and recommends Vita-Myr toothpaste. I'm currently using the original Vita-Myr Zinc Plus.
It has:
*No Fluoride
*No Sugar
*No Saccharin
*No Aspartame(SLS)*No S LS
*Low -Abrasive Formula
This is the kind he gives out in his practice with the toothbrush and floss kits.
The original one is a bit 'spicy' tasting. It has Grapefruit seed oil, Zinc, Folic Acid, Clove and Myrrh as some of the primary ingredients.

I might give Botanically Bright a try.
Vita-Myr Zinc Plus reads very healthy and natural.
Great recommendations. Thanks, guys!

Matilda, please reconsider before avoiding Fluoride toothpastes. Fluoride is a naturally-occurring ion in many water supplies. (Indeed, that is how the cavity-fighting properties of water-supply fluoridation were discovered.) In the doses used in OTC products (or water supplies) it is utterly harmless (any swallowed amounts are easily excreted by the kidneys), and again, not that different from dose received by many people drinking well or spring water.
The cavity-prevention properties of Fluoride are well-known, safe, and easy-to-understand. (The fluoride ions bond calcium in your saliva and to deminieralized spots on your tooth enamel to form fluorapatite, which is even harder than regular tooth enamel. This is not complex biochemistry; it's a reaction that can be diagrammed by a decent high-school chemistry student.)
There are natural toothpastes available (Tom's makes many of them) that are derived from all-natural ingredients but retain the fluoride that makes a modern toothpaste more effective than a "Tooth Powder" from the 19th century.

I can't find Tom's Botanically Bright toothpaste in stores so earlier today I purchased Jason's Healthy Mouth. It contains no fluoride and no SLS. I can't wait to try it!

Another vote for Toms! I use it...I buy it from the co-op natural foods store. I really like it.

How has the Tom's been for you all? I'm a little weary of their brand because I had a reaction to their deodorant...

I've used their regular toothpaste in the past without incident.
