Not sure abt the bite! Question for those near the end

#1 Post by jessieg »

My braces are scheduled to come off at the end of the month. There's this tiny little piece of me not sure about the bite on the left side. On the right I feel like they all just sit down nicely on top of one another. On the left I think it doesn't feel quite as perfect. When I touch both sides with my tongue they feel the same though! My question to those near the end, do both sides feel exactly the same now? They look good, I don't know what more can be done, but I'm just afraid it's supposed to feel perfect and it doesn't. I'll ask my ortho this week, just wondering others experiences.

I had a similar concern and was told there was a settling that would be done after the braces came off as the wires hold some of the teeth from getting totally into position. See what your ortho says.

I go back for a two-month checkup in a few days to see how I'm doing now that I'm in retention.

I've been in braces 2 years, 9 months and still worry about this. It wasn't until my last adjustment when he did IPR that I finally felt like I had a "flat" bite. Is it perfect? No. I have one really old crown that was made to fit my pre-brace bite. Now it's high on the inside and I really feel it when I chew. I'm sure this can be adjusted though. What plugnickel said is comforting. Wearing elastics could be a factor too. Definitely tell your ortho about it so he/she can make adjustments if needed.
Class II moderately deep overbite, mild crowding.
