3mm Gap?

#1 Post by Plumcore »

Hey guys! Remember me?? *silence*

Yeah i know i haven't been here for a while, been busy with school and then work. Anyway 4 premolar extractions later, im closing in to my final 100 yeards. One of the gaps is fully closed, 2 others are near done (1mm or less left) but, the upper right side has about 3mm left. Any clue how fast it will take for it to close? Ideally i'd like to have them off by Christmas, but..im starting to think it wont be done, despite my orthos optimism.

Just so you guys know, you are THE best resource when it comes to personal experience, and not some text book answer.

Couldn't find the edit button. The bottom shows the gaps remaining. Upper one is the biggest :(

In my experience, my extraction gap reduces by around 1mm each month with normal wire + elastic chain.
However my diastema gap closed REAL FAST! It moved by close to around 2mm in hours when my orthodontist used a double chain on me. It was like a miracle and I was pleasantly surprised.

I had a diastema (between central incisors) that was a little over 5 mm. Once I got powerchains, it was closed in like 2 months. I had been in braces about 6 months total by the time it closed. The space was redistributed to between my laterals and canines. 4 months later and one side just. won't. close. It's probably down to about 1 mm now but holy cow I assumed it would go as fast as the other one but nope.

Your teeth are looking good though...hopefully it hurries for you! :)

Apologies if i'm not using the correct term (not an expert in this area) but I meant having two elastic power chain - with one over another. Its awesome!! Closed the gap real quickly even though I have very, very stubborn teeth. I swear I have the slowest progress ever with the normal wires/elastic chain

Oh ok! So you had them late SPAM SPAM SPAMMING. I'm at 11 months today and still have small lower gaps. But I got a fresh powerchain a couple weeks ago and they closed by a mm. Is your bite fixed, just waiting on gaps to close before you them off?

Well yeah, my ortho kind of wanted to avoid extractions but after a year she said that the front teeth were too slanted forward because of no room. So i had the 4 premolars extracted. According to my ortho the bite is fixed, just need to close these damn gaps. Which is why it's so frustrating when it takes so long. I'll be moving to Sweden in december, and found an ortho there already, maybe she will have some ideas on how to close them faster.
