How accurate are OD duration estimates?

#1 Post by Dirigible »

Hey, I was just wondering if any of you have experienced drastic deviation between what the OD estimated for your treatment and what was the reality in terms of time? I know it depends and this is subjective, but let's see how accurate are they!

I was told 18 months when I went in for my consult. I might have my braces off at the end of the month if my bite feels ok. I almost had them off this week, but we both felt my bite could be improved a bit. You can see in my ticker how long I have had them on. As long as I get them off before February, I will be ahead of what I was told :)

My estimated time was 9 months, but it will surely be much, much longer..... ( I am at 8 months now and there is still heaps of work to do)

Oh, man. I'm sorry. That's really rough. And it scares me a bit, because I've been quoted two years. I'm counting on not having to go even one day longer than that.

I imagine they aren't very accurate at all; everyone's teeth move differently. Luckily the treatment cost (in the US anyway) is usually done as a single lump sum.

My estimate was 16 months. I'm saying 18-24 months just because if its shorter, then I'll be thrilled, but won't be bent out of shape if it stretches out too much longer.

2nd adjustment the Tuesday before Thanksgiving...sure hope my mouth is in good enough shape to eat some good grub!
Braces off on 8/26/14 after a year!

Mine gave me a range between 12 and 18 months and I hope it will be in this range so much... To be honest, your answers didn't calm me very much :)

2 and a half years, currently reaching year 3 on Dec 1st...and counting. But for me it was because i had some extractions done during treatment, after my xrays revealed that my teeth were being pushed too far forward.

I was sentenced to 24 months. My one year anniversary is in December and I've made lots of progress. I would love to be finished early, but am fully prepared to do all of the 24 months. Hopefully no longer though! I'm ready to be finished!

My estimate was 24 months. My actual was 24 months, 2 weeks.

I didn't end with a 'perfect' bite, but my treatment accomplished what I set out to do which was to reestablish as better bite. :D
