When to see progress with damon braces?

#1 Post by Shoenice »

Hi,

I'm from England (London) and have had damon braces with clear tops, for almost 2 months (25/09/2013). My first wire change will come on December 4. I've been told that treatment will be 12-15 months. Now this question has probably been asked before but I couldn't find much through the search function.

I just want to know when I should expect to see real progress? So far I've definitely seen progress, but only a little. The fundamental still needs work. I don't want to be impatient but my ortho consultant said at 3 months it would be straight, and my actual ortho said at 6 months it would be completely straight.

I just want to make sure that indeed between the 3-6 month period, that significant movement will take place? When did you notice your damon braces actually take significant effect?

Thanks

I have had my damon braces for 8 months on the top and 6 1/2 on the bottoms. My teeth straightened very quickly. You can check my progress using the link below.

I've been in Damons for 4 months and I've seen decent movement in that time. Most of the real movement happened once I moved out of the initial wires.
Had Damons (ceramic upper, metal lower) from June 27, 2013 - January 20, 2015
15-18 month sentence, official time in braces was 18 months, 3 weeks, 3 days

Hi - I had Damon braces as well. I think I noticed progress within the first few months. Can't remember exactly b/c it was so long ago.

My ortho only prefers to use Damons. And it works great b/c I am happy with the results of him fixing my crossbite.

All the best to you.

I noticed an improvement in my bite within weeks after starting in September 2012, but then progress has been "subtle," as I choose to describe it. One gap near the front seems to be slowly resolving, along with some larger ones near the lower molars. Of course with each visit to the ortho he seems to up his game a bit with more power chains and more aggressive archwires. Now that the molars are part of the circus I actually feel some discomfort from time to time. I mark my progress by how things feel -- running my tongue over my teeth, gaps, and so forth. The visible changes aren't very dramatic in my case.
