One Year in Braces

#1 Post by MrsCharisma »

Yowza! I had an adjustment today (officially one year on 1/24/14).

At my last adjustment he repositioned three brackets, said my xrays looked really good (he was oohing and ahhing) and decided not to put a powerchain on. Well, a space opened up between the left central and lateral and the existing space on the right opened up more. I was discouraged but he said that's okay.

This time I went into heavier wires and a powerchain on top again. So far, so good.

I have been ridiculously excited to see the changes and am MORE so when my ortho and the assistants get excited about how things are progressing!! :)

Bikerchick, he hasn't made any references to the timeline. I was initially told "18-24 months".

I was SO jealous that the person right before me had just gotten debanded. I literally pouted. :-*

Thanks! I'm delighted and downright amazed! LOL!

I wore braces before as an adult and that ortho didn't get NEARLY as nice a result as this one. And I'm not even done yet!

What makes this MORE ironic is that, while talking to my ortho at my appt last month, I found out that he actually started out working under my old ortho!! This is why I'm not of the "the person who has been doing this the longest is the best" mindset. Sometimes people who have been doing something for a really long time are too set into "their" way and not willing to branch out or learn new techniques, etc. My ortho has just under 10 years of experience vs the old ortho who probably had 3-4 times that.
