What is in your "Orthodontic makeup bag"?

#1 Post by eatcake247 »

I created my own orthodontist cosmetic bag consisting of wax, a toothbrush, travel toothpaste, mouthwash, string floss, floss threaders, Stimudent picks, mirror, and EOS lip balm.

Add a collapsible cup for rinsing. If you have trouble finding one (try baby products?) you might could see if you can find a collapsible measuring cup in housewares. Or just take a dry and empty 8-oz water bottle and squish it. (It'll leak after a few uses (not a huge deal as you are just using it as a cup, but it can always be replaced.)

Excellent post! I been thinking about this lately because I'll be taking my first vacation with braces in a couple of weeks.

I'd add a travel proxa brush (aka christmas tree brush).

You can also get collapsible cups in outdoor stores.

I have wax, floss, a travel toothbrush and toothpaste, a couple of christmas tree brushes, and a small mirror.

I have toothbrush, toothpaste, interdental brush, floss, wax, mouth wash and elastics. My orthodontic bag never leaves my handbag...

I travel quite a bit for work and the only things I would think about adding are Tylenol and nail clippers. Once when I was away, I got a very poky wire that needed dealing with. Ran the nail clippers in the hot water, dipped them in alcohol and snip, snip. Problem solved.

I do travel nursing and was thinking of making up something to take in the car. These are great ideas. I will keep watching for new additions to this list.

The first day I got my braces, my orthodontist gave me a handy little plastic zippered bag, like a starter kit: toothbrush (and travel-size toothbrush), proxa brush(es), wax, floss(es), and travel-size toothpaste. It fits in my purse and it's been habit to have it with me ever since. If I can't carry it with me, at the very least I always keep a travel proxa brush on me for emergency gunk removal. It's my favourite tool.

oh boy, I keep a small change purse with wax, picks, elastics, listerine breath strips and mirror in my purse. Then I have 3 kits, one for the office, one for my car glove compartment and one for hubby's car with all of the above, plus toothbrush and full size toothpaste (I hate wasting money on those travel size toothpastes when I use them up so fast). :-) I never want to be without something I might need!
