Crowned tooth pain

#1 Post by butlerbulldogfan »

Past few days not been able to eat on a lower molar crown or even touch it with a toothbrush when brushing teeth because its very sore and tender. Anyone else with braces have a crown that has done that. Its been root canal'd and have had the crown about 5 years and never had any problems with it. Dont understand how it even has any feeling. Always thought the root canal was supposed to make it dead.

I had one day of soreness and sensitivity in a crowned molar that went away as mysteriously as it came. Like you, I am wondering what this is all about.

How long have you had your braces?

I have two root-canaled crowns, and when I first got braces on, my two crowns hurt TERRIBLY. Couldn't brush, eat, anything. They hurt much worse and for considerably longer than my other teeth. My ortho told me it's normal for crowns to be more sensitive than other teeth. Not sure why... It did get better over time, to where now they don't feel any different than my other teeth at wire change time.

Ive had braces for about 8 months. Its just weird, cant bit down on it but for some reason it doesnt hurt when I press on the backside of the crown, but the front side with the bracket it hurts pushing on the crown. So I dont know going wait another week before asking the ortho. Its been about 5 days now.
