Acceledent Inquiry
To my knowledge my Ortho doesn't have Acceledent although I plan on double checking. I am 7 months in and would really like to try Acceledent. Please post your personal experiences here. Also, since I am seven months in I am wondering if I still have a good chance of accelerating. I found another Ortho around my area that provides Acceledent and wonder if I can simply purchase the device from him. Ideas??
Re: Acceledent Inquiry
It will be interesting for you to find out. I know my ortho is not a provider either and I don't know if I can buy it somewhere else. I have a feeling they want you to get braces from the provider that sells them but you never know. I hope you can get them anyhow. Maybe it just takes a referral from your ortho to the one that has them. Let us know what you find out.
07/14/14 - 4 spacers put in
07/25/14 - braces top and bottom put in minus 2 molar bands that they couldn't fit
9/11/14 - 2 spacers put in between the bottom back molars
9/19/14 - last 2 bottom molar bands in and all hooked up, new wire, started elastics too
10/14/14 - new square wire change and thick elastics
04/24/17 - braces removed!!!

Re: Acceledent Inquiry
I work with an ortho that uses Acceledent. His office has just started using the product. I am one of the first few in his office to try it. I am 6 months into braces. I started using Acceledent when I was about 2 months into it. The results are amazing. My ortho and I are really pleased at the progress. I am now into rectangular wires at 6 months.
My opinion would be to work with an ortho that uses Acceledent because the manufacture actually have some a timeline that has been recommended to get the best results. For me it has been worth the money. It also feels good on my teeth when they change wires. Any questions please let me know.

Re: Acceledent Inquiry (What is the downside and risk?)
This almost sounds too good to be true, as I would think orthos would jump at the opportunity to crank more patients through their practices. I know there is some risk with teeth moving too quickly, crushing the blood supply or causing the roots to reabsorb but I don't know specifics.
What is the down side, and the risk of this approach? Anyone aware of published studies in peer-reviewed dental journals?
