I know ulcers are common if you've got braces but does anyone know why? What causes them and can you do anything to prevent them?

I was quite prone to mouth ulcers before braces and since having them on I've had the odd one or two high up in my gums, can cope with that. This past week though (had braces for 2 months now) I have really suffered, they've been all along my tongue and underneath where the tongue joins the bottom of your mouth, my saliva glands have been crazy too. I wonder if something I ate or drank made it worse.

Was just starting to feel comfortable again and now my braces are feeling extra scratchy as my mouth is so sensitive :(

I found a great wax with aloe and vitamin e that I love. Very soothing and really sticky. Made by G.U.M. brand. I also always keep a Kanka (brand) Gel Pen in my purse. It's a little brush that allows you to get the medicine right where you wan it. Numbing and soothing but also has healing medicine in it.

I keep getting them just inside my lip and when the bracket catches it is the worst pain I've ever felt. Bonjela is truly my favourite thing in the world.
