Damon braces Final Wire

#1 Post by butlerbulldogfan »

I am now 1 year and 3 months into with braces and I am now at the Final stainless steel archwires. Estimated around 8 months left before getting my braces off. They put those archwires on about 6 weeks ago and then again 2 weeks ago for a adjustment they moved a molar bracket and put the same wires back in. I guess she made a little bend somewhere but not sure where. Question I have What is the final wire supposed to do. All of my bottom teeth are straight, and my top were too but now one of my front top teeth is starting to tip outwards. Its leaving a small gap at the bottom of my two front teeth now because its tipping and the other one isnt. I have two triangle elastics on that side, on the tooth next to the one tipping and another further back. The other front tooth has stayed, theres only one elastic on that side going from back molar to one of the front ones on the bottom but a question I have for anyone thats had the final wire, With the final wire are your teeth still supposed to move, I thought it was supposed to retain where they were at while the elastics are working to fix the bite?

You'll just need to ask your ortho what steps are left and how long they'll take. Elastics can do a lot of different things, depending on how they are configured. People here have reported being in their "final wire" for over a year.
