Anyone have elastics pull off brackets?

#1 Post by oldfart »

Just my new paranoia. Just curious if anyone has put in elastics and like yawned or openned thier mouth too wide and pull off the bracket it was attached to?

Just curious.

I would say that you should be snapping rubber bands long before a bracket comes off. And that hurts!!!

The forces exerted by rubber bands are trivial compared with chewing forces.

Just a caution that more force on the teeth does not always mean more and quicker movement.

There is actually a threshold of force which when is exceeded, will actually slow down the movement of the teeth and cause issues with the roots.

That being said, if you are using your regular elastics, the brackets should not come off.

I was told you can also damage the roots if you put too many on

I haven't. Just because I want to, doesn't mean I am insane enough to do it.

I cursed myself. Had a hook come off while yawning. No I wasn't wearing multiple elastics on it. This is just a small wire created hook attached to a bracket. My office calls them THIS IS SPAM PLEASE REPORT TO ADMINISTRATOR THIS IS SPAM PLEASE REPORT TO ADMINISTRATOR THIS IS SPAM PLEASE REPORT TO ADMINISTRATOR THIS IS SPAM PLEASE REPORT TO ADMINISTRATOR THIS IS SPAM PLEASE REPORT TO ADMINISTRATOR hooks. I bent it down while brushing too quickly, bent it up, and it lasted two more days. Them came off taking the ligature with it. I got the lig back on, and was able to get in this morning to have one put back on. (Yes I took them snacks.)
