So I'm 32, just got my braces 3 days ago and was looking for a little bit of input from someone who might be in the same situation I'm in.

A have slight over crowding on both the bottom and top along with all four wisdom teeth that have came in perfectly straight. Upon my first consultation I brought up the question if they would need to be removed or not. My orthodontist told me most likely not but there's still that nagging thought In the back of my mind

I noticed after I got braces that brackets were on all of my teeth except for all the wisdom teeth. I'm trying to wrap my mind around how my teeth will straighten when the wisdom teeth are still there. Stupid question but will the straightening of my teeth gently push the wisdom teeth back if there's room?

Any input or passed experience would be greatly appreciated!

I think what your ortho may be doing is straightening your teeth first, without working on the bite or jaw stuff. I'm sure later on in your treatment once they're moving alone nicely, he'll be able to see if they need to be removed or if he can make your bite perfect without it. Just hang in there.

I don't think anyone gets them on their 3rd molars? I never have and personally never have seen anyone with them on their wisdom teeth, im getting mine removed tho. x

I'm in the same situation as you-i still have all my wisdom teeth and they all came in ok. My top teeth were always pretty straight but my lowers were a crowded mess. My ortho said that she never puts brackets on wisdom teeth, they are hard to move and it is too far back there to keep clean. I also think brackets on third molars would be very irritating to your cheeks. Both orthos that I consulted said that they probably won't need to be removed unless they interfere with other necessary movement, but this won't be known until later in treatment. My wisdom teeth were fully erupted before braces. I had the option of removing my wisdom teeth with my braces in or before braces were put on. I chose to remove them before braces. I felt my mouth was really crowded so I wanted to have as much room as possible for my teeth to move with braces. Good luck!
