Not much soreness after adjustment?

#1 Post by Felina Grimm »

After the second adjustment on the top and first on the bottom, despite being painful, I didn't feel much soreness the day after and today. Is this normal? Is my body adjusting too fast to this? Does this mean they aren't going to move much? This is odd.

From what I've experienced and read on this board, soreness can be very random. For example, after my last adjustment, I had almost no soreness on my lower teeth even though they put on "the thickest wire" they have, and warned me I'd be sore for awhile. My upper teeth got the same wire put back on. Well wouldn't you know it, but it's my upper teeth that hurt now. A week later. With the same wire I've had since October.

It was odd for me because it was barely my second adjustment with the uppers and first one for the lowers.

I concur with Jaime. It is totally random. I too have had two adjustments: the first one I had a little bit of pain 5 DAYS LATER for like half a day. The second adjustment that was this past Tuesday, I'm still a little sore, but the first 48 hours I was on Advil. Very sore. And then sometimes, out of the blue, one or some of my teeth will just start to hurt for a day or two. Don't worry about thinking they aren't moving....trust me...they are.

I used to get some degree of soreness after each adjustment. When i just had a lig/elastic band change, it wouldn't hurt as much, but as the wire thickness went up it was very sore and tender. My final wire (which I have been in for about 9 months) i get NO tenderness, NO soreness no nothing after each adjusment now, my teeth are perfectly straight now, I'm just waiting for surgery in 2 weeks.

So, your teeth can move without sorness, you're only on your second, so i imagine your in a thin wire which wont hurt TOO much!

Correct. I still have the same thin wires from the beginning. This morning I woke up to see a GAP. And I haven't had any spaces since all my adult teeth came out. This is so exciting!

I had real, noticeable discomfort/pain about 3 times in the 22 months I've been braced. Just enjoy it!

I think I spoke too soon because I had some soreness on the bottom teeth about 3 days afterwards. I'm not sure if the buildups have anything to do with it. Definitely random, heh.

I haven't even had my adjustment and the soreness is so hit and miss. Good one day and sore the next.
