Braces and fillings?

#1 Post by Tasha012 »

Hello everyone :)

I'm Natasha and I will of had my braces a year next month. I can't believe I haven't discovered this place sooner, but now I have hopefully I'll see you around :)

I'll get to the point now, I have some fillings in one of my front teeth and the one to the side of it. I had these re-done just before I got my braces on (round about this time last year) I was at my regular dentist on the 29th December for a check-up and I was at my orthodontics 2 weeks ago. (I finally got my elastics at this appointment, they've been challenging but thats a different story) and nothing seemed an issue at them.

But today these two teeth have started causing me some pain, it's not unbearable it more pain when I touch it, or try using it which makes me think that it's probably not just pain from my braces and that it could possibly be the fillings. So my question is, what could the dentist do for me? I've dreading this happening because it seems impossible for her to get to the filling, since it wasn't exactly small and I'm pretty sure some of it is over where my bracket is placed. Anybody had any similar experiences? I obviously can't ring my dentist now and I'm hoping that by some miracle the pain goes away by morning and life is once again good, but I'm not so sure about that one.

I'm so silly! The teeth that are hurting are the not actually the ones with the fillings, its the other front tooth and the one next to it. The 'one next to it' is pretty much the only tooth which isn't aligned yet (it's kinda wedged behind my front tooth still) I'm hoping again by some miracle that the pain is the braces trying to align that one in particular.

I've generally found that my braces only tend to hurt in spots, so it was mainly my lower teeth and on the right side as I had one quite twisted tooth. Think a trip to the dentist may be useful too.

Hey Natasha..its pretty normal to feel pain in just some teeth..specially the ones that need to be moved the most. For me sometimes they were so sensitive even brushing my teeth hurt. The good thing is that if that happens it means they are moving and working.
Its interesting that the tooth next to the filling is the one that hurts, I also had a filling done and the tooth next to it was the one hurting..I have no idea why..maybe its because they were pushing it when doing the filling or maybe its just the braces

Anyways Congrats on starting your journey! And best of luck! :D
