3 days out - bottom arch concerns!

#1 Post by msw »

Hey y'all. So I'm scheduled for de-bonding on Thursday morning (in 3 days!), but I'm still concerned about the alignment of this one stubborn tooth on my bottom arch. Please see the attached picture. Does that tooth look misaligned to anybody else? Is this something that could be corrected by leaving just the bottom braces on, or would my orthodontist likely need the top braces to stay on as well?

Hello - it looks symmetrical to the same tooth on the other side. Ask your orthodontist if it's possible to find a "more perfect" alignment - sometimes its not possible because of the tooth shape (this particular tooth, or the shape of the neughbouring tooth). Sometimes it can be fixed by shaving a tooth down a little bit.
It looks a tiny bit off to me, but I'm not sure if I would be bothered by such a thing anyway.
If you prefer to leave the bottoms on, I don't think this it would be a problem. I can see plenty of people with just the bottoms on - including my ortho's assistant:)
Congrats on reaching the end of your treatment anyways! :)

Thank for the input, twentyseven. I'm thrilled with my results overall, but I'm at the point where I'm getting really critical. After 16-17 months and about $5,000, I just want everything to be as perfect as possible, yaknowwhatimean? I do want my top braces off something awful, but I'm willing to let the bottom brackets stay on as long as necessary.

Here's a progress picture...

I've got an appointment with my dentist for next Monday to get the chip on my left front tooth repaired. I'm struggling with the "slant" of my right front tooth, but that could just be the way my tooth is shaped. I may ask my dentist what he can do to even out my front teeth. Other than these minor issues.... I'm ECSTATIC!!!

I had a similar issue with a small gap between my top and bottom teeth when I was told we entered finishing details and he asked if I had any concerns I brought that up and he said it was just the shape of that tooth. I'd ask but they look beautiful otherwise.
