I am 3 weeks into braces now, and my back molars do not meet. If I try to chew normally, my top lateral incisor hits the bottom bracket. Is this normal? How long will this last?
Your bite will often times get worse before it gets better during treatment. It's pretty normal. If you're worried about your teeth hitting the brackets though, bring it up to your orthodontist and they can put something in place to help prevent damage to your teeth. That might be unpleasant though...do a search for bite turbos and you'll see what I mean. How long it lasts depends on your individual treatment plan.
