does this bother everyone?
When i first got braces they left all 4 of my 2nd molars unwired, the top ones were wired in at my first adjustment (roughly 3 months)
Now that its been over 4 months its so obvious how far off my bottom 2nd molars were and still are that i really want them to be added on to the wire at my next adjustment so they can start moving
It just feels so wrong to look at them and see how far off they are compared to my other teeth
But i guess that's a sign that its likely they will be wired in at my next adjustment (which will be around the 5 month mark, so right around the corner)

Re: does this bother everyone?
Are you in a small wire? I started out wired to the last molar, but the wire kept coming out of the last bracket, so they snipped the wire so that last molar isn't engaged to the wire. Once I go up a wire size, the last molars will be included again.

Re: does this bother everyone?
I've had one adjustment so I'm in bigger/stronger wires than what they first started me on, but probably still relatively thin/weak
I think it's mostly a case of most of the teeth being moved enough to add the back molars to the wire more than just wire size
My top 2nd molars were previously unwired until my first adjustment so I'm guessing the next adjustment will include wiring the bottom 2nd molars as I can see they are so far off from how the rest of my bottom teeth are

Re: does this bother everyone?
I got my second molars bracketed around 6 months. My young sister who had braces just before I did never got hers bracketed or banded.
The brackets on my second molars dig into my cheeks still, 13 months later. The wire in my upper left side is cut down as far as it can go and it digs into my cheek so much that I have to keep wax on it daily. So if I was you, I'd be enjoying these days before yours get wired in!!

Maybe so, but my bottom right 2nd molar looks so far off and crooked and it sure isn't gonna move while its not wiredjaime wrote:I got my second molars bracketed around 6 months. My young sister who had braces just before I did never got hers bracketed or banded.

Re: does this bother everyone?
What bothers me is that my back molars dont even touch. Eating anything is such a slow pace its crazy. Just trying to slowly chew to avoid my canines hitting is tedious.
Re: does this bother everyone?
I've had braces for almost exactly a year and none of my back molars have brackets on them. It used to really bother me because some of them are crooked, but I try not to let it get to me because no one can see those teeth except me.

My 2nd molars weren't bracketed until 3 months in. I have no idea why they do this. It seems like common practice.

Maybe they figure it would be a waste of time until the rest of the teeth move first, at least thats the reasoning i would think they are thinkingFelina Grimm wrote:My 2nd molars weren't bracketed until 3 months in. I have no idea why they do this. It seems like common practice.
I mean as far off as my lower 2nd molars are, they will probably move fast and easy when they do get wired in

Re: does this bother everyone?
I had asked my ortho at the time why they wait. He told me it was because they have to wait for you to be in thicker wires, otherwise food could break the wire.Felina Grimm wrote:My 2nd molars weren't bracketed until 3 months in. I have no idea why they do this. It seems like common practice.

I remember that I was in rectangular wires for at least a month before my second molars were banded and wired in. It was still a few months before I was upgraded to stainless steel wires though.jaime wrote: I had asked my ortho at the time why they wait.
