Hi,
I'm getting quotes for braces from various orthos. 1st one does Suresmile and I'm not sure if its just marketing talk, that it is faster? Does anyone experience with it? Also what is the pain like with SureSmile? I will also get a consult for other ortho who does Damon. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Two different things. Damon makes a self ligating (i.e., no colored donut ligatures) bracket system. They also offer their own archwires, but your doctor makes the bends in the archwires by hand to induce the fine movements of your teeth. Suresmile is a company that uses computer generated models to make custom robotically bent archwires for each individual case. Suresmile claims they have every type of manufacturers' brackets in their database so their archwires can be used with any bracket system, including Damon. The inevitable discomfort will be similar with manually or robotically bent wires. Suresmile claims it will be faster, but a highly skilled practioner can do about the same by hand.

Don't pay any attention to the bracket brand or treatment system. Pick the Ortho you trust most and use whatever hardware he/she feels is best for your case. In the end, the orthodontist's skill matters far more than the hardware they prefer.
