"Go To" Meals After Bracing, Adjustment, or Extractions

Hi Everyone!
I was wondering what are the most common go-to foods after initially getting braces, having an adjustment, or getting extractions, essentially good foods to eat when you are sore/in pain along the orthodontic journey. Some that I have seen on here are: Mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, protein shakes, etc.
Curious to get everyone's thoughts on their "go-tos".
Thanks!
Ashley

I ate mashed potatoes after extractions. I didn't need to eat anything special after bracing or adjustments. I just avoid anything really hard

Avoid anything you need to bite through (sandwiches, burritos, chicken strips, etc) for a few days to adjust to how your mouth feels. Biting through things is a very weird sensation as your teeth can feel loose like they're going to fall out. Trust that they won't, but don't be freaked out if they do. Other than that, you're pretty much on the right track sticking to soft foods.

I have a guilty pleasure with McDonald's fast foods. Actually I don't really feel that guilty about it. At any rate, it was my first stop after bracing -- big unhealthy Big Mac, supersized fries with lots of salt, large drink. I ate in my car, sparing the public from my hideousness.

Ice cream. Root beer floats. Soups. I figure if I have soups on those days that I'm hurting from recent adjustments, I can splurge on root beer floats. And I've still lost 20 pounds.

I'm a big fan of mashed banana and yogurt after my adjustments.

I am waiting for braces to go on and am anxious about what I will be able to eat. I am not a 3 square meals a day person, rather a grazer...mainly healthy stuff but clearly carrots sticks and celery aren't compatible with new braces! Liking the suggestions here! All Inread says soft stuff and smoothies, I find myself eating things and thinking "This will be no good when I am braced!" Good Luck

If I can fit it in very soon after an adjustment, I get Taco Bell before my teeth are too sore to chew, afterwards I usually eat Spaghetti Os for the next 3 days, with a few touches to flavor it up so its not just Spaghetti Os

I just got back from my third adjustment now. Had a coil placed on each side on the bottom and a coil on the top right as well as square wires put on. Needless to say I am starting to get super sore and picked up soup on the way home. Usually I recover by morning but I think I am going to be sticking to soft foods for quite a few days

I don't have enough clearance between my upper and lower teeth so with brackets on (and silicone bumpers to protect everything) my molars don't even connect right now. So chewing anything is out, whether my teeth are sore or not. I'm having lots of smoothies, did mashed potatoes for dinner, and scrambled eggs for lunch. Sliced banana for breakfast with OJ. I did find that Ritz crackers dissolve well on the roof of your mouth, so after breaking them into bite size peieces I have a few of those for a snack.
I'm shallowly hoping I drop a few pounds whil I'm waiting to be able to chew again.

My standard post-dentistry food is a Sausage Gravy Biscuit. But if you are not blessed with living in the American South, I'm afraid you will just have to suffer!
Seriously, after my jaw surgery, my standard meal was mashed potatoes, canned corned beef, cheese, and scrambled eggs. (Not good for you cholesterol levels, but after surgery, nobody ever worries about gaining weight!)

Mac and cheese #1!!! Soups, risotto, other pasta, bolognese, tofu in peanut sauce, gnocchi, eggs cooked all ways, soft fish, fish cakes (canned salmon with mashed potatoes, season, bind with egg and shape), quinoa cooked with spinach and cheese stirred in.
Go to snacking/breakfast - cottage cheese, applesauce, smoothies, avocados, bananas, oatmeal, raspberries, weetabix, salsa on slices of softish cheese.
I miss crackers and chips so much, but the closest I get most of the time is those green bean shaped snacks made out of dried peas to satisfy that craving for salty and crunchy.
Have not gained or lost a pound and I intend to keep it that way!
