Damon Braces

#1 Post by spree43 »

Hey it's me again..
Wondering if anyone had had damon braces and if they thought they were less bulky and more comfortable than ceramic?
I recently had ceramic on and I was so uncomfortable that I took them off. Now I'm trying to decide if I should just do something smaller and metal. Also I really do not want to get extractions so thought I might see an ortho if Damon would do the job without having extractions.

So just wondering if anyone was happy with the damon bracket size...

I don't have experience with ceramic brackets or a different type of metal braces to compare them to, but i have Damon braces and never felt them to be too bulky

They also have a number of other advantages

http://www.gregjorgensen.com/blog/2012/ ... th-faster/ is an interesting read, made by an orthodontist

It points out that basically Damon braces don't make miracles happen, compared to other types or brands of braces, but theres a lot to love about them

If you were told by 2/3 orthodontists that you need extractions, maybe you really do

If it was only one, go to more consultations and be open about what your treatment really needs, not just what you want
Lots of crimes here

1. The upper molars bite too far ahead of the lower molars

2. Missing teeth #s 9, 14, and, 29

3. Open bite

4. Upper midline left of center

5. Lower midline right of center

6. Upper and lower teeth not straight

Sentence - 24 months, turned to 27 month.

Braces removed since 11/06/17

I had ceramic Damons as well, top and bottom (front) and metal Damons for the remainder and while they were bulky, I can't say if they are more bulky than traditional metal since I have not had the metal brackets. I think anything is going to feel bulky. I am probably misreading, but are you seeking information about Damon vs traditional brackets, or Damon clear vs Damon metal.

Thanks..I was looking for a comparison between regular ceramic and damon metal. I had regulat ceramic and they were so bulky I could not get my top lip over them.

Just curious, did you get Damon on top and bottom? I have mine on top and bottom and I never see anyone with bottom clear braces, only top. I also hope these are just as effective as metal because I have miracles to work and need them to get it together lol

Yes i have Damon braces on top and bottom, all Metal, i think the reason nobody gets clear braces on the bottom is you almost never see that much of somebody elses bottom teeth, whereas you see the top teeth a lot easier on a regular basis

And yes, results should be the same regardless of type of braces, brand, or materials they are made of as the important thing is the skill of the Orthodontist

Skill is a good thing to have lol, although.... I'm a week in and still can't figure out why he glued a bracket to my TEMPORARY crown. We'll see how this plays out with my very upset regular dentist on Thursday, who is ready to place my real crown lol.

Skill might be an issue I have to look in to.

I have Damon Clear braces on top and bottom. They don't feel bulky to me. I had metal as as kid and these feel the same. However, when I was getting mine put on the other day there was a girl getting her "Traditional Ceramic" braces removed and was replacing it with Damon Clear braces. I was told these Damon Clear don't stain the way traditional ceramics do.

I'm a week in and haven't had any staining. I've eaten pizza and drank coffee.

I would say they're similar to metal braces as far as thinkness... and No rubber bands required.
