7 months in...wire used to close gaps in between top laterals

Good Morning!! has anyone had your Ortho use a thick wire bent in your top brackets to help close gaps between the lateral incisors?? I just got one on yesterday and boy am I in PAIN!!! Doesn't help that I am 5 months pregnant either....and can't really take any pain meds for it. I just thought he would use a power chain or something else to close the gaps. But this is ridiculous. I can barely close my mouth it hurts so bad. The gap on my right side though, since yesterday, is almost fully closed and my left gap is closing slowly but I can definitely see the results! Has anyone else had this done for larger gaps?
