Can't chew food without breaking braces

#1 Post by Roxxm »

First couple weeks of braces I decided not to chew food at all, this worked ok but I list a lot of weight. Now I've been trying small bites or soft food like pasta or salmon. Cut an apple into little pieces. My wires are snapping off almost daily. Everytime I go in to get it fixxed it seems like they add a new wire with more pokey bits that tear up my cheeks. I don't even want to brush my teeth anymore because of all the time I spend removing and readhering the wax. Guess it's back to a liquid diet for me. Only 16 months left to go.... ((Sigh))

That is terrible. I would get a waterpik. And chew very carefully.

Also it has been my personal experience that using wax or the other material to prevent irritation, only delays the inevitable. I only used it religiously on molar bands that have headgear tubes.

Any other time its only for a day or if my cheek got swollen, etc.
