Build up on molars ... extremely painful

#1 Post by hayleyeh »

I had the pleasure of getting my bottom braces on yesterday and these past 24 hours have been EXCRUCIATING. I like to think I have a high pain tolerance but this is definitely a 10. I was unable to even floss last night because my teeth hurt so bad.

They had to put this blue stuff on my banded molars so that I wouldn't bite off my bottom braces. The problem is, when I bite down, there is an insane amount of pain on these molars. Will this subside?

My experience has been that they're annoying as all hell, but they're not painful. Not sure what would be causing that kind of pain.

I just had my molar buildups over the weekend and was advised to return to the clinic if there is any sharp pain. Otherwise, jaw ache (due to the forced opening), dull sore (molar buildups being the only contact points) are expected.

I have the same blue buildups. While I definitely feel some mild discomfort if I do a lot of chewing in a short amount of time, I've not experienced any pain on the teeth with the buildups.

I got my buildups on my back molars a few weeks ago to prevent my molar brackets from being bitten off. To this day they still irritate the molars just a bit, hopefully your pain has gotten better!

You aren't in 10/10, so calm down.

Just checking you have taken pain killers and regularly? They can take a couple of pills to work. I recommend Clove Oil as well. Pop some on a cotton bud, put on gums/area, don't taste it cause it's awful but pain goes very fast in my experience. Google it.

If you aren't getting relief with over the pain medication go to Doctor for a prescription or try a chemist (depending on your state). I've never been in that much pain with braces, but did after my jaw and got some paracetamol, codeine and anti histermine (for sleep) - Mersyndol.

THE PAIN WILL GO WITH TIME. Hang in thrrr buddy.
