Why are my gums bleeding when I am wearing braces?

Every night, when I floss, my gums are always bleeding and make the floss stain red. I got the braces 3 weeks ago, and I brush 2 times a day, and floss every night. I brush my teeth, the top and bottom of the braces, and behind the teeth. I still don't know why. Any suggestions?

It could be possible that you are not cleaning your teeth properly and some residue food gets stuck in your teeth and spaces between teeth and gums, causing irritation and inflammation to your gums. Such could be the cause for the increased of your gums whenever you floss. You should consult with your dentist and/or hygienist to see if you are cleaning your teeth properly. You may need special equipment and treatment for flossing or brushing teeth; make sure you are actually using them.

I found there was one tooth in particular that would bleed when I brushed. It was the one that needed the most movement. Is this everyday for all your teeth or just one tooth that is actively moving?

I was braced Monday and my gums are just raw. I hate it. I sympathize with you!
